Mullumbimby Community Preschool

Mission Statement

Our mission is to support children to reach their highest potential through creating a safe, welcoming and stimulating learning environment that:

  • Encourages thoughtful play and early literacy and numeracy development

  • Promotes a strong sense of belonging and self worth

  • Develops their ability to care for and to contribute to their world

  • Expands their knowledge, skills and their interests

  • Facilitates warm trusting relationships and interactions with others

  • Strengthens resilience, critical thinking, inquiry skills and intellectual curiosity

  • Promotes communication and problem solving

  • Develops capacity to express and acknowledge feelings

  • Respects their individual background, interests and culture.

As educators we aim to developing a holistic approach to our practices by engaging in critical reflections, to change our practices, make informed decisions, understand our own biases and look at situations through the perspectives of the children, caregivers, stakeholders, local community and beyond.

We active encourage parents and carers to be involved in the child's learning and early childhood experience, an active partnership between caregivers, teachers and children will help us to obtain our desired outcomes.

At Mullumbimby preschool we seek to promote a greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being. We have developed our own Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) which provides a framework to guide our program.

We hope to inspire our preschool children and our wider community to contribute to reconciliation and to break down stereotypes and discrimination.
